Ahmedabad
Sabarmati Ashram, Independence Day
This famous attraction in Ahmedabad was one of the epicentres of the freedom movement. Nestled on the banks of the River Sabarmati, it was originally called the Satyagraha Ashram.
This was the main centre of the great Indian leader Mahatma Gandhi’s training of activists so that they could be influenced by him and join his nonviolent Swadeshi movements to gain Independence.
Allahabad
Chandra Shekhar Azad Park, Independence Day
This park is not only the largest in the heart of the city but also has a strong association with the Indian Freedom movements. At the time of British rule, it was called Alfred Park or Company Garden.
It was also where the British held official ceremonies, and the police bands arranged musical performances there.
The famous character in the freedom movement has taken a vow never to be caught by the British. When the British saw him in this very park, he used his last bullet and became a martyr, and that’s why a statue was also erected in this park in memory of the famous Indian citizen.

August Kranti Maidan
It is again a very popular place if we remember when India was not independent. Gandhiji called for the famous Quit India Movement on August 8, 1942, at this renowned maidan, which is quite popular in Mumbai.
The main aim of this particular meeting is to mobilise more people with a commitment to ‘Do or Die’. The Quit India Movement was so strong that the British realised that they had lost their earlier hold on India.
However, the British made their best attempt to suppress this movement with lathi charges and tear gas.
Jhansi
Jhansi Fort
This fort, fondly called ‘Rani Jhansi ka Quila,’ was built centuries ago. It is a famous landmark in Jhansi and a significant icon symbolizing India’s First War of Independence day. It was held in 1857 with the legendary lady Rani Laxmi Bai and other brave warriors.
This magnificent fort is amazingly erected on Bangara Hill and offers a spectacular view of Jhansi. It also withstood the heavy and terrific bombardment by British forces 17 days before it fell.
However, at the time of bombardment, the Laxmi Bai escaped with her forces.

Red Fort
